Mr Flanagan, The Chaplain And Mr Lincoln
The program originates from Chicago, in honor of Lincoln's birthday. The recording starts slightly upcut. A great battle of The Civil War was for "Equality Among Men." Mr. Flannagan, a volunteer with a Pennsylvanian regiment, is desperate for a furlough. Michael Allen is a Jewish Chaplain with, "The heart of an Irishman" who helped him. However, Michael was not ordained a Rabbi and at that time, only Christians were permitted to minister to the soldiers. After-drama speaker: Henry Berman, Justice of The Superior Court of Cook County and Honorary Chairman of The Board of The Chicago-Israel Volunteer Group. This script was subsequent produced on, "The Eteranl Light" on January 14, 1962 (see cat. #112525).

The Eternal Light was an American radio and television program on the NBC Radio Network, produced in conjunction with the Jewish Theological Seminary, that was broadcast between 1944 and 1989. Featuring interviews, commentary, and award-winning dramas from the perspective of Judaism, it began on radio in 1944 and continued as a weekly radio program through 1989. A 1946 program, for example, dramatized humanitarian Lillian Wald's founding of New York City's Henry Street Settlement in 1895. The May 31, 1959, program featured a tour of the Holy Land narrated by Ralph Bellamy.
