Bucket Of Water Dumped

Irma Cameron is at her farm when her daughter Cathy knocks over a bucket of water after seeing Steve Skidmore walking toward the house. Irma tells Steve about some good news—John gave them an estimate showing their potato crop will bring in a nice amount of money. Steve seems upset and tells Irma he can't visit anymore because it wouldn't be safe. When Irma says she thought he saw the place as his second home, Steve explains he won't come back as long as there's a chance Harry Davis might show up. Irma points out that Joan is her best friend, but Steve says if he ran into Harry, he'd want to hurt him. He tells Irma he has nothing left to live for. Irma asks him to stay and talk, saying he's doing better since leaving the hospital. Steve says losing his arm cost him his pride, and now he only wants to make Harry Davis pay for what he did to him and for ruining Betty's life. Irma tells him Harry isn't responsible for Betty's problems—Harry has suffered too. Steve asks if Harry got caught in his own trap, and Irma says no, he got caught in the trap Betty made for herself. Irma then remembers the high school dance where Steve first met Betty. Steve says Betty was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen, and she only came to town because Harry brought her.
