Today Is Very Much A Red Letter Day

Harry and Joan have decided to marry sooner than planned. At a funeral for a family friend, Harry's secretary Betty McDonald brings flowers while Joan brings red roses. When Harry gets to his office, he's in a great mood because his bachelor days are almost over. He mentions that his landlady is packing his belongings so he can move into his new apartment right away. Harry learns that one of his coworkers has been holding onto some important papers for several days. He asks Betty to call Professor Kilpatrick about this. Harry then remembers he needs to meet his mother at five o'clock today and asks Betty to keep his mother and Tom company if he's not back in time. Betty says she can't because she has other plans. Harry asks for directions to the Burroughs place so he can secure a letter and some papers. Betty agrees to go with him tomorrow. Harry also tells Betty he's sorry she won't join him and Joan at the new apartment, since he wanted to give her credit for finding it. Finally, he shares his big news: he and Joan are getting married. Later, Harry meets Professor Kilpatrick at the Stanley Arms Hotel. The professor says he's healthy again and ready to take action against Ralph Stanley.
