A Bargain in Blood
Description
Salvadore Ross is in love with Ruthie, daughter of a teacher who doesn’t want a factory “bum” for a son-in-law. Then Sal discovers his strange power—trading what he’s got for anything. He swaps his head of hair for drinking money, whiskey for the return of his hair, his 26 years for an old man’s age and fortune, a year at a time back for $1,000 each. But Ruthie still won’t marry him unless he has compassion—and that can only come from her ill father.
A young man, thwarted in his pursuit of love by the indifference of a wealthy father, suddenly discovers he can trade his own attributes with others. His quest for success and wealth ends with a warning against the lure of easy gains, and a sickening realization that he has traded his soul.
A young guy gets rejected by a rich man's daughter and finds out he can swap his personal qualities with other people. His chase for money and success teaches him that shortcuts are dangerous, and he learns too late that he's given away his soul.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
