A Cage for Augie Karo

Description

CBS executive Carl Carmer shares what he thinks about the South and the people who live there after his recent visit to the area. His talks include recordings he made while traveling through the region.

An old and apparently half-insane convict gives fellow inmate Augie Karo a vial of powder that he claims can put a man to sleep for several centuries—and thus prevent the police from nabbing him if he breaks out. Augie doesn’t believe a word of it until a chance to go free is suddenly and mysteriously arranged for him. Will the vial provide the hideout he needs?

Carl Carmer, a CBS executive, shows his impressions of the South and its people after a recent trip into the region. His talks are illustrated by recordings made during his journey.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
