A Matter of Customs

Description

Millie Gordon and her husband, Sam, celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary, set out on a cruise in the Caribbean. Because she has read so many mystery stories, Millie occasionally thinks of herself as an amateur detective, and she grows suspicious of Wanda and Howie Rivers, who seldom leave their stateroom. She becomes certain the two are involved in some kind of criminal activity when they go ashore in Venezuela and Millie returns with another man disguised as her husband.

The Gormans' long-awaited Caribbean cruise is disturbed by Millie's sharp curiosity about two fellow passengers, Howie and Wanda, who appear unusually secretive. Her detective instincts tingle at oddities in Howie's appearance and behavior. She finally discovers that the couple are heroin smugglers, and she turns the case over to the authorities.

Millie and her husband finally take their dream vacation on a Caribbean cruise ship, but Millie can't stop watching two suspicious passengers named Howie and Wanda. Something about the way Howie looks and acts doesn't seem right to her. When Millie digs deeper, she finds out the pair are smuggling drugs and reports them to the police.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
