First of three dramatizations of John H. McFadden's novel, "The Time and the Place." General Morgan's iron rule in a future city is challenged by a professor and his sister, who try to force him to confront the past he has escaped. Starring Paul Lukas, Lillian Gish, and John Gielgud.

Dr. Otto Segrim makes sure that he is arrested for treason by Gen. Franklin Ulysses Morgan’s elite guard. He then plots to have his sister, Leta, trick the general into shaking her poisoned-gloved hand. The general will die within hours unless he accepts the professor’s offer to send him back to a point in time where he can have a chance to decide not to become a dictator.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
