Description

Linda Russell hurriedly returns from Paris to her stepfather’s Cape Cod home when she learns of her mother’s sudden death. Overcome by guilt for not having been at her mother’s bedside when she died, Linda rushes to the mausoleum containing her mother’s coffin. She is unable to open it. Later, a strange young man pries it open, and when Linda is told what he discovered—that it is empty—she suspects foul play and determines to find out who is responsible—and why.

Based on the first part of Thomas J. McGowan's book "The Dark Bone." Linda's stepfather is a twisted scientist who plans to bring her dead mother back to life by using Linda's blood to make the corpse young again. Insurance investigator John Caton discovers the evil plan and saves Linda right before flames destroy the laboratory.

The first of four plays from the novel "The Dark Bone" by Thomas J. McGowan. Linda's stepfather, a morbid scientist, plots to revive her mother's corpse by using Linda's blood to restore her youth. John Caton, an insurance investigator, finds the scheme and rescues Linda just before the lab is destroyed in a fire.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
