A skeptical woman and her scheming partner await the release of a friend who has served a 99-year sentence. To their astonishment, he looks 20 years younger. A doubting woman and her plotting partner wait for their friend to get out of prison after 99 years. They are shocked when he looks 20 years younger than he should. The scheming man gets excited about his friend's young looks and plans to sell a potion that promises to keep people young forever, using his friend as living proof. But they soon learn that living forever is actually a curse.
While serving time, Harry meets a man named Lucas, who was in for 99 years because of the murder he committed during an armed robbery. When Lucas is released, Harry goes to pick him up. A doctor validates Lucas’ physical age at around 35. Prison records show he was jailed nearly 100 years ago. In the mind of con man Harry, there’s a million to be had in what he plans to call “Lucas’ Elixir of Eternal Life”—if Harry can only find a millionaire who wants to live forever.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
