At the End of the Passage

Description

In colonial India's sweltering jungle, Hummel works as a helper on the Guadahari railroad and slowly loses his mind from the crushing heat. His one escape comes from playing cards each week with Dr. Spursto and two other buddies. When they try to help him using morphine, it only makes him more addicted and sends him further into fear and hopelessness.

Hummel, an assistant engineer on the Guadahari railroad, sinks into madness in the oppressive jungle heat of colonial India. His only relief is his weekly card games with Dr. Spursto and two other friends. They try to help him with morphine, but this only deepens his dependency and plunges him deeper into paranoia and despair.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
