Burn, Witch, Burn

Description

A young servant named Luna faces witchcraft charges in a small New England village where fear from the Salem witch trials still grips everyone. Cotton Mather, a passionate preacher, makes the panic worse. Master Caden, an Episcopalian priest, wants to help Luna. Sir John secretly watches everything that happens.

A fictitious incident in the life of the Rev. Cotton Mather, generally blamed for the hideously bigoted persecution in 1692 of Salem Village women thought to be witches. Luna Clare, whose grandmother could put people asleep by waving her hands and who was burned at the stake for it, waits in a tiny, cold, jail cell for the same fate. Her crime: In order to save her grandmother, she had allegedly tempted an older man to possess her. Mather tries to make Luna recant, knowing that even if she does, she’ll still die by fire or be stoned to death.

In a small New England town, the oppressive atmosphere of the Salem witch trials hangs heavy over the village. Luna, a young maid, is accused of witchcraft. Cotton Mather, a fervent preacher, fuels the fire of hysteria. Master Caden, an Episcopalian priest, is drawn to Luna's plight. Sir John watches the proceedings with a hidden interest.
