Child of the Sea

Description

A coastal village is the scene of a romance between David, a painter, and Alani, a stunning sea nymph who lures him beneath the waves. Ellen, his practical fiancée, is unwillingly caught in the struggle between David's growing obsession with the underwater kingdom and her efforts to hold him to the surface world.

In a seaside town, artist David falls for Alani, a beautiful water spirit who tempts him to join her underwater world. His down-to-earth fiancée Ellen fights to keep David from abandoning everything above the waves as he becomes more and more obsessed with the mysterious depths below.

While scuba diving off California’s Laguna Beach, playboy David Wells is trapped by a tentacle of an enormous squid. Only the quick action of a beautiful young woman with long, flowing blonde hair saves his life. She calls herself Alonay and David falls madly in love with her. Their relationship is doomed, however. Alonay must live in the ocean much of the time, and her father—half-man, half-fish—will not allow her to see David.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
