Description

A young woman working as a children's caretaker at Greystone Manor must shield two kids from their uncle's evil schemes, and while doing so, she uncovers the startling truth about what happened to the previous caretaker who vanished without a trace.
A new governess arrives at a mysterious mansion with troubled teenage residents and an unsympathetic housekeeper. She uncovers disturbing accounts regarding the family's past deaths and her predecessor's fate. A resident ghost provides an even darker revelation. Ultimately, Mary chooses to remain and protect the children from their guardian's intentions to institutionalize them.
Mary Richards agrees to be a governess but finds herself in a gloomy house with two difficult teenagers and an unfair housekeeper. She hears conflicting tales of how the children's large family died and different versions of her predecessor's death. Next, she meets the resident ghost who has the most horrible story of all. Determined to leave quickly, Mary is prevailed upon by the children to stay and fight their guardian, who wants to send them to an asylum though they're not insane.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
