Dead Man's Mountain

Description

One of the world’s wealthiest men, determined to build a resort on Mount Manitou in the Adirondacks, is aghast to see his young aide, Morrisey, return from the mountain as a feeble seventy year old. Unwilling to believe the mountain is haunted, R.J. Johnson travels to a nearby village whose residents, opposed to construction of the resort, tell him that anyone who goes up the mountain will die—if his conscience is not perfectly clear.

A greedy businessman wants to make money from a holy mountain that the local people worship, but he ignores their warnings. When he goes to explore the mountain's mysteries, the evil spirits there kill him instead of letting him win.

In this chilling fantasy drama, a businessman, determined to exploit a mountain held sacred by the townspeople, disregards their warnings. His skepticism leads him to investigate the mountain's secrets, but in the end, he is drained of life by the supernatural force he sought to conquer.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
