Death Spell

Description

The interlocking stories of two young couples in New York City. Tom and Helen hope for success in the arts; Bart and Rosalind are haunted by fears that she is practicing witchcraft against him. A Ouija board whets Helen's ambition and leads to Bart's tragic end.

Struggling artist Tom Craven meets an old friend from his art school days, Bart Crowley, now too rich to worry about painting. Bart offers Tom and his wife, Helen, the use of the studio on his estate—for free. The Cravens are suspicious of this sudden generosity and soon find their suspicions are not unfounded. Bart is afraid that his beautiful Trinidadian wife has cast a death spell over him and needs the Cravens to try and help him overcome it.

Two young couples in New York City have lives that connect in unexpected ways. Tom and Helen dream of making it big as artists, while Bart and Rosalind struggle with his growing fear that she's using magic to hurt him. When Helen starts using a Ouija board to boost her career, it sets off a chain of events that leads to Bart's death.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
