Albert Morrison, a widower and professor of astronomy, is put in a mental institution because nobody believes that he killed a woman by mistake when she threatened to kill him if he did not fall in love with her at her command. A psychiatrist, Dr. Florence Mallow, is assigned to help him. During the course of the treatment she suddenly and violently expresses her love for him, threatening death if he doesn’t respond.

A man tells his psychiatrist about his complicated romantic relationships, revealing how the former teacher's life fell apart and filled him with shame. The patient, who can't stop thinking about a special gift from his girlfriend, has to accept what he's done wrong and deal with losing the doctor who tried to save him.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
