Don’t Play with Matches

Description

Fire Chief Delbert Casseroll’s prevention program has snuffed out all the fires in Caswell Corners, so that the chief, when not appearing on television talk shows, just sits around the station. But on his day off, the usually conscientious chief becomes an arsonist—and eventually a murderer—creating work for other public servants. However, he soon discovers that when he plays with matches, he is bound to get burned.

Fire Chief Delbert Cassarole is the toast of the town because fires are almost non-existent because of his prevention methods. CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
