Description

When the body of a notorious criminal washes up on New York's Pelham Bay, a reporter's prizeworthy investigation into Hestos's life across Europe escalates from smooth, confident searching into ever deeper danger, and a final confrontation in New York with Hestos's criminal associates.

Reporter Joe Smith gets the scoop on a drowning in New York’s Pelham Bay of Marco Hestos, the most-wanted international crook. Because little is known of Hestos’ past, Smith is sent by his newspaper to Europe to find out all he can. He quickly learns that certain people don’t want him to conduct such an investigation. He manages to outwit them, but while in Nicosia discovers the fact about his own early life he finds hard to believe.

A dead criminal named Hestos turns up on a New York beach at Pelham Bay, so a reporter starts digging into his past all across Europe, but what begins as easy detective work turns into serious trouble that leads to a dangerous showdown back in New York with Hestos's criminal partners.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
