Description

The first of CBS's new series of comedy-dramas, written by Paul Rhymer. Edgar is a meek bank clerk whose resemblance to a film of a bank robber plunges him into a nightmare of suspicion. In the end, with the help of a girl friend, he learns to fight back and accept himself.

CBS launches its first comedy-drama series, created by Paul Rhymer. Edgar works as a quiet bank employee who looks just like a bank robber from a movie, which gets him into serious trouble when everyone thinks he's the criminal. Finally, a female friend helps him stand up for himself and find his confidence.

Bank teller Edgar Ellerbe becomes the prime suspect in a bank robbery after Detective Bradshaw shows the bank’s employees a film on the stick-up. Even though Ellerbe does resemble the thief, co-worker Mary Lou Grant points out that Ellerbe, at five feet, one inch, is much shorter than the man seen in the film. Mary Lou’s observation loses some of its punch when Bradshaw finds a pair of three-inch-thick innersoles in Ellerbe’s apartment.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
