Description

Professional dancer Elizabeth Riggs is rushed to a hospital's emergency room, her leg shattered in a train crash. Certain the leg will be amputated, she calls for the hospital chaplain, Daniel Morgan, who passes out while trying to console her. Drs. Patricia Shelton and Hugh Bradley see little hope for Morgan's survival (he is suffering from a ruptured appendix) until Mr. Riggs asks to see him again and he consents, despite his precarious condition.

This sensitive and moving story of faith and love takes place in a community hospital where casualties from a train wreck are treated. A dancer, Elizabeth, fears the loss of her leg will end her career. She struggles with doubt and faith as she faces surgery and seeks solace and understanding from Chaplain Dan Morgan, who is seriously ill himself.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
