Description
Chester Macefield is caught in a conflict between comfort and desire. His wife Edna, a wealthy older woman, sees him through a fog of adoration. But Chester's heart beats for Sue Ellen Quackenbush, a vibrant young actress. Chester's panic grows as he learns of Sue Ellen's deception and realizes that his own fears and guilt are his undoing.

Chester Macefield finds himself torn between safety and what he wants. His wife Edna, a rich older woman, looks at him with loving eyes that don't see clearly. Chester becomes more afraid when he discovers Sue Ellen has been lying to him and sees that his own worries and shame will destroy him.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
