Last Days Of A Dictator

Description

The downfall of Mussolini is traced from the summer of 1943 to his execution in 1945, as he became a puppet ruler under German control. Despite his attempts to assert past achievements, he was ousted by the Grand Council of Fascism and arrested by King Victor Emmanuel III.

In the final horrifying days of World War II, Benito Mussolini thought his ally Adolf Hitler has rescued him from an unkind end, only to find that Hitler had planned far well in advance for his own “Il Duce.”

From summer 1943 to his death in 1945, Mussolini's collapse unfolds as he turns into a powerless leader controlled by Germany. Even though he tries to remind people of his earlier successes, the Grand Council of Fascism kicks him out and King Victor Emmanuel III has him arrested.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
