Little Green Death

Description

A killing in a small town stirs up doubt and envy among the people. When Elmer Baker's fingerprints turn up on the murder weapon, everyone thinks he did it. But his wife Lucy won't give up on him - she knows he's innocent. Lucy's fight to clear his name leads her to hire a lawyer from out of town, who digs up the real facts and proves Elmer didn't do it.

The impact of a murder in a small town is magnified by the suspicion and jealousy that it arouses. Elmer Baker's fingerprints are found on the weapon, but his wife Lucy refuses to falter in her belief in his innocence. Her determination brings in an outside lawyer, who finally finds the truth and exonerates Elmer.

Phil Hastings, the best friend of bookstore owner Elmer Baker, hires Adelaide Gordon to defend Elmer, charged with the murder of Robert Curtland. Elmer had borrowed a large sum of money from Curtland to keep his shop solvent, and Curtland had refused to give him an extension on the loan. Gordon faces a rough trial because Elmer was on his yearly drinking spree and cannot remember whether or not he fired the gun that killed Curtland.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
