Long Live the King Is Dead
Description
Returning home from the university, Prince Hamlet discovers that his father has died and his father's brother, Claudius, has seized the Danish throne and married his mother. His father's ghost soon tells Hamlet that he has been murdered by Claudius and bids Hamlet to seek revenge. Hamlet, after killing his beloved Ophelia's father by mistake, hears again from the ghost, still demanding revenge. Claudius has become suspicious of Hamlet's intention, though, and craftily tries to thwart him.
Prince Hamlet comes back from college to find his father dead and his uncle Claudius now ruling Denmark after marrying Hamlet's mother. His father's ghost appears and tells Hamlet that Claudius killed him, asking Hamlet to get revenge. After Hamlet accidentally kills the father of his girlfriend Ophelia, the ghost visits him again, still wanting revenge. But Claudius starts to suspect what Hamlet is planning and cleverly tries to stop him.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
