Lovely People
Description
A psychotherapist named Tamara used to tell fortunes before she started helping people with their problems. Her helper murders her and steals her job. Three people who came to Tamara for help - two women and a man who lives alone - can't figure out why she disappeared. Meanwhile, the killer tricks her way into the lonely man's life.
Whether it is her readings of the future or her self-taught psychoanalysis, Tamara’s salon is crowded by the wealthy. Tamara tries to aid the forlorn male secretary of one of her unhappy rich female clients by pairing them. But what Harold doesn’t suspect is that the pastries Tamara gives him to woo his boss contain a special ingredient: arsenic.
Tamara, a former fortune teller who has become a psychotherapist, sees her world collapse when her assistant kills her and takes over her practice. The four patients who had relied on Tamara—two women and a lonely man—struggle to understand her absence while the assistant weaves herself into the man's life.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
