Description
A hardworking mayor turns into a local hero after convincing a major chemical company to build a factory in his small town. But when he meets a former company chemist, he learns disturbing truths about what they make that makes him question everything.
Frank Spencer, mayor of Sharon City, is a hero. He has gone to Chicago and convinced the Miller-Basford Corporation to build a new factory in Sharon City, creating 800 new jobs and prosperity for all. But then a former employee of the corporation comes to town and tells Frank that in its reduction process the factory will emit Amphoran, which, if inhaled over a few years, can turn people into homicidal maniacs. Frank wants to listen, but his fellow citizens don’t.
An industrious mayor becomes a hero when he manages to get a leading chemical company to set up a manufacturing unit in his small town. But an encounter with an ex-chemist at the company reveals facts about the product(s) that leaves him having serious doubts.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
