Nefertiti Part I: The Vulture Screams
Description
When they were children, Nefertiti, the daughter of Egyptian Prime Minister Aye, frightened the Pharaoh’s son, Akhenaton, and also made fun of him. Nevertheless, when Akhenaton, after his father’s death, is named the new pharaoh, it is arranged for Nefertiti to be his queen. He’s still afraid of her, complaining of an upset stomach on their wedding day. She considers him immature, but when she learns of her father’s plan to have him murdered, she vows to make sure it doesn’t happen.
After Pharaoh Amenhotep dies suddenly, his scared son Akhenaten must be crowned king and marry Nefertiti on the same day, while she tries to calm him and fights worries about being poisoned and the royal court's distrust of her ambitious mother-in-law, Queen Ti.
Amidst the turmoil surrounding Pharaoh Amenhotep’s death, his fearful son Akhenaten is rushed toward a same-day coronation and marriage to Nefertiti, who seeks to steady him while battling fears of poison and court suspicion of her power-thirsty mother-in-law, Queen Ti.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
