On the Night of the Dead

Description

Pentheus, the young governor of an ancient Greek island, finds his people in the midst of a relentless drought. When all else fails, a “god” appears, seemingly from nowhere, with mysterious and miraculous powers. Is he really a god, sent to deliver the island from its scorching heat? The answer spells madness and murder.

A man who says he's a god arrives in a town destroyed by disease and starvation, where desperate women believe he can save them, but their doubting leader wants him to prove what he can really do.

In a village ravaged by sickness and hunger, a group of women pin their hopes for salvation on a man claiming to be a god. Meanwhile, their cynical leader demands proof of his powers.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
