Once Upon an Island

Description

After learning about the local legend of the "shining ghost," a couple honeymooning on an island in the Caribbean become curious. The husband meets an unfortunate accident when he goes to explore the haunted house.

A newlywed couple on their Caribbean island honeymoon hears stories about a glowing spirit. When the husband decides to check out the spooky house where it lives, something terrible happens to him.

Young Jack Turner, a psychiatrist disturbed by what he considers his new wife’s hallucinations, goes alone to the old house to investigate the plausibility of the mysterious light seeming to shine from the library window and the improbable presence of a man who shines in the dark. When he doesn’t return, his wife Betty and her Uncle Jaspar walk to the house and find Jack stretched out on the library floor. He babbles unintelligibly for a moment or two and then lapses into insensibility.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
