Person to Be Notified

Description

A woman gets a job working for a strange writer who lives alone on an island, but she starts to think his servant is up to no good and tries to prove it. When the man who got her the job worries about her safety, he heads to the island to help her.

A woman selected for a secretarial position because she lacks an emergency contact becomes entangled in a scheme. Her reclusive employer on a Maine island estate is actually held prisoner by associates seeking to recover hidden diamonds. They believe her isolation makes her the ideal tool to locate the fortune, with the threat that no one will ever bother to wonder what happened to her.

After landing a position at the remote island home of an eccentric author, a woman begins to suspect his manservant's actions and sets out to expose him. Concerned for welfare, the man who sent her to the island goes after her.

Because she fails in applying for a job to give the name of the person to be notified "in case of," Sarah Watson is chosen for a well-paying secretarial position. Her employer-to-be, a wealthy, elderly eccentric, is really a prisoner in his vast Maine island estate and the owner of a fortune in diamonds his lawyer and others hope Miss Watson will help him locate. If she refuses, no one, they figure, will ever bother to wonder what happened to her.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
