Portrait of a Killer

Description

A man discovers he can enter a mysterious painting after gazing at it for a long time. Once inside the artwork, he can travel back in time and might be able to change what happened in history.

Two guards in a museum are fascinated by an old man who stares for hours at the only remaining work of an obscure artist. One of the guards believes that the painting has come alive, that the old man is its creator, and the painting is helping him relive his life—even the moment when he murdered the man who, through trickery, had stolen his fiancée and was the cause of her suicide.

After staring in quiet fascination into an ambiguous painting, a man is surprised to find that he can project himself into the artwork. He is able to revisit the past and potentially alter the course of history.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
