Portrait of a Memory
Description
In order to immortalize her beloved, a wealthy woman hires the service of a starving American painter to paint his portrait. The problem is, she refuses to provide him with a photo, and asks him to paint her vision of the man instead.
A rich woman wants to make her lover live forever through art, so she pays a broke American artist to paint his picture. But she won't give him any photos to work from and tells him to paint what she sees in her mind instead.
Amelia North, a wealthy American residing in Paris, commissions Maria-Helena, through her painter friend Justin Court, to produce a portrait of an unknown man for which she agrees to pay an exorbitant sum. She refuses to explain why she wants the picture but, as fate would have it, the portrait Maria-Helena paints turns out not to be of an unknown man, but someone from the pasts of both Amelia and Maria-Helena.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
