Description
A researcher discovers his new medicine can kill people and reports this to his company's boss. Worried that this news will destroy his business, the boss murders the researcher to keep him quiet.
When a scientist stumbles upon their new drug's lethal side effects, he tells the company's CEO of his findings. Fearing that the disclosure could bankrupt his company, he kills the scientist in order to silence him.
Drug company owner Paul Rutledge sees a fortune coming his way when he starts producing Alderson, a new miracle antibiotic developed by his friend, Melvin Arvin. However, Arvin discovers the drug might be lethal to 10 percent of those who take it. When Arvin tells this to Rutledge, Rutledge shoots him in what appears to be a hunting accident. A jury finds Rutledge innocent, and it seems that Alderson, which has passed all government tests, will soon be on the market.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
