Unable to have children of their own, producer Ted Samson and his leading lady wife, Annalee, adopt a son whom they name Ronald. Ted, always seeking more fame and fortune for both himself and Annalee, drives her to a nervous breakdown and continues to mistreat her even after her release from a sanitarium. During a struggle in their home, Annalee falls over a banister and down a flight of stairs, disfiguring her face for life. Ronald then declares he could easily murder his father.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
