Description

Archaeology professor J. Hallington Wells and his daughter Maria are in Mexico for an extended vacation when they find land for a house they want to build. Digging the foundation, they strike a huge stone and are catapulted into an underground chamber built by an ancient Aztec tribe. Exploration leads them into the middle of a ceremony with which Maria feels strangely familiar, and which demands the sacrifice of one of them to the rain god.

A superannuated professor is obsessed with the mysteries of the Aztec civilisation. He decides to relocate to a new residence with his daughter whose mother was Aztec. But their new home hides a pyramid and they are accidentally sucked back in time through it. Now the father must witness his daughter sacrificed in an ancient Aztec ritual.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
