The Big Ten-Cent Hustle
Description
The “talking” dime, fresh from the mint, goes from a bank to a philanthropist, who gives it to Joe and Maggie, a broke and unemployed couple. On their way to take a job as a chauffeur and maid, Joe gives the dime, their last, to a beggar, who realizes the coin’s value. When Joe and Maggie learn that their new boss has heard about the coin and is willing to pay $2,500 for it, Joe vows to take it back from the beggar—even if it means he has to murder him to get it.

An autobiographical sketch narrated by a minty new Mercury dime.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
