British Major John Churton, serving in India, runs into a streak of bad luck, including the decision of his fiancée, the colonel's daughter, to break their engagement. All of Churton's troubles have come about, according to his friend Tom Fewton, a student of Indian customs, because he had bought a silver box, the Bisara of Pooree. If he had stolen it, Fewton explains, he would have his heart's desire. Now Churton must figure a way to get rid of the box and then steal it back.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
