The Child’s Cat Paw
Description
A young girl and a mysterious cat cast magic on an elderly man and a woman who wants his money to make them fall in love. The girl means well, but the cat has bad plans.
Ten-year-old Dinah has moved to an isolated farm with her parents and her ailing Uncle Willie. Her father wants to write a novel, her mother wants to paint. When cold weather sets in, they pay little attention to Dinah, whose cat Fammy, named after a familiar, the alter ego of a witch, becomes her closest friend. She has long conversations with Fammy, who suddenly starts talking back. Dinah’s mother overhears them, but not distinctly enough to know what they are conjuring up for Uncle Willie.
A child and a strange cat weave a spell on an old man and a gold digger to put them together. The girl's motives are pure, the cat's are not.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
