The Dead You Can’t Bury

Description

At a party, a fortune teller tells a woman she will meet a man who will ruin her life. When she actually meets this man, she falls in love with him anyway, even though a dark ghost in her dreams keeps warning her to stay away.

At her brother’s instigation, Amanda, still in mourning over their father’s death, marries wealthy lumberman Andrew Trevelyan. Amanda consented to the marriage even though a woman in her dreams (who turns out to be Andrew’s first wife) warned her that by doing so she will seal her doom. Soon after the wedding, Amanda suffers a serious—but not fatal, this time—fall from a horse due to an unbuckled stirrup.

A chance encounter with a fortune teller at a party reveals that she would meet a man fated to bring disaster to her life. True enough, she meets him and falls in love, despite the warnings voiced by a brooding ghost that haunts her dreams

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
