The Edge of Death

Description

A farmer can't do anything but watch helplessly as his wife is slowly consumes by an undefined illness. One day he finds a strange case and an even stranger person without a mouth seeking it desperately. He becomes convinced that the case contains a miracle remedy that can save his wife.

A rural community is terrified when the appearance of a faceless man dressed in black is reported. At least 12 people in the farming area claim to have witnessed this dark-dressed man lurking in the woodlands. They became convinced the figure represents death when a dog confronts it and immediately dies—with no evidence of violence.

A farmer watches helplessly as his wife gets sicker and sicker from a mysterious disease. When he discovers an odd box and meets a bizarre mouthless stranger who desperately wants it, the farmer believes the box holds a miracle cure that will save his wife.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
