The Elixir of Death

Description

Burned out on city medicine, Dr. Peter Nevins settles in a remote mountain village, falls in love with a local girl, and discovers an unidentifiable substance in the celebrated bottled spring water that everyone except him wants to keep on the market.

Dr. Peter Nevins becomes a country doctor in a community relying on the Elixir Vita bottling plant. As health officer, he finds the "elixir" contains a substance lethal to people with certain allergies. Though he doesn't know it, he may be the first victim—a woman uses the "elixir" to cook his vegetables.

A tired city doctor moves to a small mountain town, falls for a local woman, and finds a mysterious ingredient in the famous bottled water that everyone but him wants to keep selling.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
