The Fatal 50,000

Description

Robert Arthur Moresby, a businessman accustomed to having his way, fires Russ Haley for embezzling $50,000. Soon after Haley commits suicide. Moresby’s wife Rita turns against him and he begins to receive phone calls from the dead Haley that no one else can hear.

To impress his boss, a worker at a property company steals $50,000 and pretends he earned it from sales. When his crime is found out, he kills himself, bringing terrible luck to the boss who pushed him to do it.

In order to look good in his boss' eyes, an employee of a real estate developer filches $50,000 and claims it as sales. After his misdemeanor is discovered, he commits suicide and this showers bad luck on the boss that drove him to it.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
