The Gratitude of the Serpent

Description

Marina, sold into slavery by her father to avoid certain death as a human sacrifice to Aztec gods, learns Spanish and becomes the mistress of a renegade soldier named Cortez. Cortez’s blond hair and fire-breathing metal tubes convince the innocent Marina that he is really the god Quetzalcoatl, and she leads him straight to Montezuma’s fabled capital.

A Spanish conqueror who plans to attack the Mayan people buys a young girl, and she must choose between loyalty to her own tribe and the man who has been kind to her.

When a young girl is sold to a Spanish conquistador bent on storming the Mayans, she is torn between her people and the master who has treated her more than fairly.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
