Description

Shortly after Othello, a black Moor, and the fair Desdemona are secretly wed, Iago, a villainous ensign, attempts to ruin his general by telling the bride's enraged father about the marriage. But Othello prevails, so Iago schemes to upset him by hinting that Desdemona is being unfaithful. When Othello dismisses Cassio, an officer, and Desdemona pleads for his reinstatement, Othello becomes possessed by jealousy and acts without asking for explanations.
In this tragic tale of jealousy and intrigue, a man commits the ultimate betrayal by murdering his beloved and innocent wife.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
