In Padua to study medicine, Giovanni Guasconti meets and falls in love with Beatrice, the beautiful daughter of Dr. Rappaccini, not knowing that she is under the spell of her father who has developed a flower that will kill anyone—except for her—who touches it. Later Giovanni inadvertently touches the flower and, though he doesn't die, becomes seriously ill. When he recovers, he finds that he too is now under the doctor's spell.

Against his advisers' advice, a driven young doctor chases after the local oddball's daughter when he falls head over heels for her.

In spite of the warnings of his advisers, an ambitious young doctor pursues the daughter of the town's local crack-pot after falling madly in love with her.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
