The Lap of the Gods

Description

A car crash puts a present-day man in the hospital where he falls into a coma, but his soul gets sent back to the 1820s where it takes over the body of a ship captain.

Walter Davis, who has been drowning his sorrows in alcohol since the death of his wife, lies dying in a New York hospital. While in a coma, his soul is transferred to the body of Joshua Fenwright, a sea captain who was shipwrecked over 150 years ago. Fenwright, blinded by the accident, is confused by strange flashes he has of himself in a future life as a man named Walter Davis. His confusion mounts when the flashes stop and he suddenly regains his sight.

After an accident lands a modern man in the hospital, his spirit travels back in time into the body of a sea captain in the 1820's. Meanwhile, his real body lies in a coma.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
