The Laughing Maiden

Description

A tired fisherman and his unstable friend go back to Caicos Island with a fearful sailor to find Captain Kidd's hidden treasure and break free from their miserable lives, but a dangerous criminal boss is ready to hunt them down.

Determined to escape their grim lives and recover Captain Kidd's long-buried treasure, a worn-out fishing partner and his mentally-unsteady associate return to Caicos Island with a superstitious crewman while a crime boss waits to move in for the kill.

Three men in the charter boat business set out for the Bahamian island of Caicos, on which Captain Kidd reputedly buried the single richest prize ever taken by a pirate on the Spanish Main. They make several trips to Caicos and each time, shortly after their arrival, espy a large ship’s mast on the horizon. They’re sure the ship belongs to the Syndicate, which, they fear, is making plans to seize the treasure, if and when they find it.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
