The Love Song of Death

Description

Two wealthy families have been fighting for generations. When their children fall in love, the young couple must die to finally stop the war between the houses. This story shows how love and hate are connected, and how prejudice destroys innocent lives.

Love and hate are two sides of the same coin. In this tale of bigotry and hatred, two young lovers are sacrificed to end a blood feud between two noble houses.

Family hatred flares when the Capulets discover that Romeo, heir of the enemy Montagues, has, uninvited and disguised, attended a masked ball given by Lord Capulet. Unbeknownst to the others, Romeo and Juliet meet, fall in love and are married. But the marriage remains a secret, and the couple risk their lives to get back together, after Romeo is banished from Verona for killing Juliet's cousin and Juliet is betrothed to Paris, a Capulet.

CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
