The Man Who Ran Away
Description
After learning his wife cheated on him, a heartbroken man flees to a small town. He finds what looks like an abandoned house where he plans to hide away and feel sorry for himself. But he discovers the place is actually home to a woman who is just as alone as he is.
A woman disappears from a bus in which an author is traveling, and she claims that she is traveling with a man who plans to kill her.
Devastated by the discovery of his wife's infidelity, a man seeks refuge in a nearby town. He comes across a seemingly run-down estate and intends to drown his sorrows in solitude. However, he is surprised to find that the house occupied by a lady just as lonely as he is.
David Trent, upset because his wife Mona is unfaithful, takes a drive and, when he runs out of gas, seeks help at an old house. There he meets and falls in love with a beautiful, ageless woman, but soon gets an eerie feeling about her and the house. When Gregory Cape, the landlord, finds Trent’s abandoned car, he informs the now repentant Mona and together they set out to find her husband. It’s not until Cape admits the house has been vacated for years does Trent begin to realize the mystery surrounding the woman.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
