The Masque of the Red Death
Description
When a deadly plague called the Red Death destroys the world, rich businessman Milo Manderson locks himself away in his mountain home with his daughter Doreen, her husband Jack, and a few chosen people. But being trapped together with sickness and terror makes everyone mean and cruel, so Milo decides to throw a twisted costume party. Then a strange stranger shows up in the darkness, bringing death's cold laughter with him.
As the Red Death decimates the world, tycoon Milo Manderson seals himself, his daughter Doreen, her husband Jack, and a select few in his mountain mansion. But sickness and fear breed cruelty, forcing Milo to stage a grotesque masquerade. Then, in the dark, arrives a mysterious interloper and death’s own grim laughter.
It's 1996 and multimillionaire Milo Manderson has secluded himself and family in a huge mountain retreat to escape a deadly plague. To relieve tension, he proposes a masquerade party. Enraged when one guest arrives in blood red costume, he rips off the mask only to see no face, just a blood red skull—the "red death" itself has invaded the sanctuary.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater is a radio drama series created by Himan Brown that was broadcast on CBS Radio Network affiliates from 1974 to 1982, and later in the early 2000s was repeated by the NPR satellite feed. In New York City it was not aired by the then all-news WCBS but by its originating station, WOR, which produced and announced it as simply Radio Mystery Theater.
